BY ORDER OF THE U.S. DISTRICT COURT FOR THE DISTRICT OF MARYLAND

If you paid one or more fees to CIOX Health, LLC that were not permitted by Maryland’s Confidentiality of Medical Records Act, Md. Code Ann., Health-Gen. §§ 4-301, et seq. between October 1, 2016 and July 11, 2025, you could be part of a Class Action Settlement that affects your rights.

The U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland authorized this notice.
This is not a solicitation from a lawyer.

• Through a proposed Class Action Settlement, the Defendant CIOX Health, LLC (“CIOX”) has agreed to resolve a lawsuit over whether CIOX charged Individuals and/or their Law Firm representatives, and a limited number of companies including copying services and insurers, for copies of medical records in violation of Maryland’s Confidentiality of Medical Records Act, Md. Code Ann., Health-Gen. §§ 4-301, et seq. (“CMRA”).

• The proposed Class Action Settlement avoids costs and risks of continuing the lawsuit, pays money to Settlement Class Members who file valid Claims, and releases CIOX and the health care providers (as defined in CMRA, Md. Code Ann., Health-Gen. § 4-301(h)(1)) (“Health Care Providers”) whom CIOX represented in connection with the release of the Settlement Class Member’s Medical Records, from liability to Settlement Class Members.

• Under the proposed Settlement, CIOX will fund a settlement of $4.5 Million (the “Common Fund”). This Common Fund will be used to make payments to all Settlement Class Members who file valid Claims. In return, CIOX will be released from liability to the Settlement Class Members.

• Court-appointed lawyers for Settlement Class Members will ask the Court to approve a payment of 1/3 of the Common Fund as attorneys’ fees, plus costs, for investigating the facts, litigating the case, and negotiating the settlement. In addition to the monies paid into the Common Fund, CIOX also has agreed to pay the seven (7) Class Representatives in this case, each an incentive payment of up to $7,500, subject to Court Approval.

• The two sides disagree on whether a class action could have been maintained, whether CIOX did anything wrong, and how much money was at stake.

If you are a Settlement Class Member, your legal rights are affected whether you act, or don’t act. Read this notice carefully.
